RRAMAC’s VP of Product Strategy, Tom Craven, presented at the ATX West Pacific Design and Manufacturing Show in Anaheim on February 6-8. His presentation was entitled, “Smart Manufacturing Models with Sustainable ROI.” During this presentation, Craven covered the importance of implementing IIoT systems that provide a scalable platform for continuous ROI.
Design News’ Rob Spiegel covered Craven’s presentation, featuring RRAMAC in their most recent article. Throughout the article, Spiegel notes some of Craven’s most compelling statements regarding smart manufacturing and IIoT. “Smart manufacturing does not always include the internet,” said Craven. “There can be islands of data there are still smart manufacturing. Industry 4.0 includes both internet and smart manufacturing – but what we really want is ROI.”
Craven also covered the topic of OEE and how to enhance this. “Most OEE that isn’t measured reaches about 40% of potential effectiveness,” said Craven. “If it’s measured, it usually moves up to 60%. But with work, you can get it up to 90%.”
